eMLB News Article | | | Saturday, August 22nd, 2015: Red-Hot Bat! Burroughs Collects Cycle! San Francisco's Sean Burroughs accomplished what few others have been able to do -- he hit for the cycle.
In baseball, a player hits for the cycle when he hits a single, a double, a triple and a home run in the same game, though not necessarily in that order. Collecting the hits in that order is known as a natural cycle.
For the day he finished up 5-5 and helped his Giants knock off the Colorado Rockies 12-1.
In the SION postgame press conference he said, "I didn't even know I had hit for the cycle until our PR people told me after the game."
S. Burroughs doubled in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off G. Hughes in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 7th and tripled in the 8th.
Burroughs is batting .339 this season in 122 games with 13 home runs, 66 RBIs and 90 runs scored. He has 160 hits in 472 at-bats. | |
