25-year-old Norbert Barraza sent shock waves through eMLB Triple A last week with an eye-popping performance that brought him the Pacific Coast League Player of the Week Award.
A newcomer to the league, Barraza made the establishment sit up and take notice, punishing opposing pitchers with a .611 average, 11 hits in 18 at-bats, 3 home runs and 8 runs batted in.
Where the Colorado Springs Sky Sox shortstop goes from here, only the baseball gods know for sure, but Barraza certainly made his mark last week.
In the 2016 season Barraza has hit .265 with 10 home runs, 39 RBIs and scored 27 runs. |
 | Monday, June 6th, 2016: IL Trophy Goes to Mitchell of Nashville
Veteran Greg Mitchell had a great week at the plate for the Sounds to capture the majority of votes for Player of the Week in the International League.
The 35-year-old Nashville catcher built a .636 average on the strength of 14 hits in 22 at-bats, no home runs and 9 RBIs.
For 2016 Mitchell is hitting .342 with 6 home runs. His stats include 45 RBIs and 39 runs scored. |

"Don't believe everything you hear" was the word from the team's ownership group after rumors of Bobby Seay wanting out of Salt Lake City surfaced late yesterday. No one knows exactly how this news broke and Seay laughed it off when told of the story. |
