| Breaking News |  | Monday, June 6th, 2016: Cantú's Strong Week Earns SAL Trophy
So far in his young career, Carlos Cantú has kept a low profile, but after his performance at the plate last week, he attracted the notice of the rest of the South Atlantic League in a big way as he was named the Player of the Week today for his efforts.
The 21-year-old Clearwater Threshers center fielder hit at a torrid .588 clip as he collected 10 hits in 17 at-bats, 1 home run, 3 RBIs and 8 runs scored.
Cantú is batting .347 with 3 home runs and 36 RBIs this season. |

It can be difficult for a young player to step out of the shadows and assert himself in the Midwest League, but last week Jesús Ríos of the Great Lakes Loons reminded everyone just why he's here as he threw up numbers that made him an easy selection for Player of the Week.
Ríos rocked opposing pitching for a .625 average (10-16), no home runs and 1 RBIs to come away with the award.
This year Ríos is batting .346 with 2 home runs and 18 RBIs. |

It was a quiet day for the Hagerstown Suns at Cyclones Ballpark today. It was Bradley Frazier the Savannah who made all of the noise. He shut them out 12-0, allowing 2 hits while walking 1 and fanning 7.
So far in 2016 Frazier has compiled a 6-5 record with a 4.82 ERA. |
