There's nothing like being in the prime of your baseball career -- and playing like it. Just ask Tokutomi Kameyama, the Hanshin left fielder, who swung a sweet bat all week to not only aid his team, but also pick up the Central League Player of the Week honors.
Kameyama piled up 9 hits in 23 at-bats, 5 home runs and 8 RBIs while hitting .391.
Kameyama is presently batting .310 with 21 home runs, 30 runs scored and 46 RBIs. His OBP is .393. |

Albert Carmona demonstrated his potential to be a star in the game last week and today he took home the Pacific League Player of the Week Award.
The Tohoku Rakuten shortstop wreaked havoc on opposing pitchers last week, pounding them for a .480 average (12-25) with 1 home run and 2 RBIs on his way to claiming the honor.
So far this season Carmona is hitting .330 with 12 home runs. |
 | Sunday, June 5th, 2016: Aida on Fire, 6-6 Against Seibu
Katzumi Aida was on quite a roll today as he knocked the ball all over the park, collecting 6 hits and leading the Giants to a 12-6 victory over the Seibu Lions.
After the first three hits, all eyes in the ballpark were drawn to him each time he stepped into the batter's box. Even a few of the opposing fans were pulling for him, knowing they were watching a little baseball-hitting history unfold.
In the clubhouse, crowded by reporters, the Yomiuri first baseman said, "I never realized that batting a little ball around could cause so much commotion." When asked what the secret of hitting so well is, he smiled and replied, "The key to hitting for a high average is to relax, concentrate and hit the ball where they ain't."
Nobody was at home today as Aida finished the day with 6 hits in 6 at-bats and a line in the record book.
K. Aida singled in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a GRAND SLAM off Y. Saito in the 8th.
So far this season Aida is batting .361 with 2 home runs, 26 RBIs and 42 runs scored. He has 95 hits in 263 at-bats, 2 walks and a .363 OBP. Aida has played in 56 games. |
