Friday, June 3rd, 2016: Tampa Bay Whitewashes Seattle, Williams Winner
"He was too darn good for us today," grumbled the Seattle manager after his club suffered a 8-0 shutout at the hands of Chuck Williams of the Tampa Bay Rays. He held the Seattle Mariners scoreless in a 4-hit whitewash.

Williams was in a zone of his own most of the game and finished with 8 strikeouts and no walks in a strong outing.

In a postgame quote his own skipper added, "He pitched his butt off, had good velocity, good movement and had those guys off balance. Chuck did a whale of a pitching job."

To this point in the season Williams has 6 wins and 6 losses and a 4.62 ERA.
Monday, May 30th, 2016: 20-Game Hitting Streak for Willits
Reggie Willits of the Athletics tagged 3 hits in today's 8-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays at Network Associates Coliseum and ran his hitting streak to 20 straight games.
R. Willits doubled in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, singled in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off B. Sheets in the 9th.

This season Willits is batting .346 with 3 home runs. His totals include 20 RBIs and 45 runs scored.
Thursday, May 19th, 2016: SP Tom Springer Hurt
Tampa Bay fans will be disappointed to learn that Tom Springer developed a finger blister while throwing a pitch in today's game. After the doctor informed the Tampa Bay Rays manager that Springer was expected to miss 1-2 weeks, the manager told the press that the rest of the team would have to step up their play until the starting pitcher could return. "You can't make excuses in baseball, because there's always a game tomorrow," said the team's skipper.

Over the season Springer has thrown 65.2 innings and dished out 41 strikeouts with a 5-1 mark and a 4.11 ERA.
