Oakland Athletics right fielder Kelly Harper rose above the controversy surrounding his soon-to-expire contract, thriving under pressure last week and copping the Player of the Week award in the American League.
Harper put up a .467 batting average (14-30) with 4 home runs, 8 RBIs and scored 8 times.
For the year Harper is batting .283 with 62 hits and 10 home runs. He has scored 39 times and driven in 32. |
 | Sunday, June 5th, 2016: Hit Streak Now at 25 for Willits
Win, lose or draw -- Reggie Willits just keeps on getting base hits -- game after game after game. He has now stretched his hitting streak to 25 games. The Oakland Athletics left fielder picked up 1 hit in 4 at-bats today, but it wasn't enough to win the game. His club was defeated 7-3 by the Toronto Blue Jays at Network Associates Coliseum.
R. Willits grounded out in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, singled in the 6th and grounded out in the 8th.
So far this year Willits has hit .342 with 3 home runs, 21 RBIs and 49 runs scored. |

A boyish Reggie Willits emerged as the latest American League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Oakland deserved the honor, batting .386 with 1 home run and 10 runs batted in. Is the month of May a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Willits enjoy the limelight.
For 2016 Willits is hitting .346 with 3 home runs. His stats include 20 RBIs and 46 runs scored. |
