| Breaking News |  | Friday, June 3rd, 2016: Tampa Bay Whitewashes Seattle, Williams Winner "He was too darn good for us today," grumbled the Seattle manager after his club suffered a 8-0 shutout at the hands of Chuck Williams of the Tampa Bay Rays. He held the Seattle Mariners scoreless in a 4-hit whitewash.
Williams was in a zone of his own most of the game and finished with 8 strikeouts and no walks in a strong outing.
In a postgame quote his own skipper added, "He pitched his butt off, had good velocity, good movement and had those guys off balance. Chuck did a whale of a pitching job."
To this point in the season Williams has 6 wins and 6 losses and a 4.62 ERA. |  | Tuesday, May 10th, 2016: Big Day for Span: Swats 5 Hits It was high-5 day at Yankee Stadium, at least for Denard Span of the New York (A) Yankees. He got a lot of high-5's for his outstanding hitting against the Seattle Mariners, but he and his teammates couldn't pull out a win. Span smashed 5 hits in 5 at-bats on a his record-setting day, but New York (A) still dropped the game 12-10.
His manager said, "Denard was hitting everything. It really was a special game for him. Too bad the other guys couldn't rise to the occasion and get the victory."
In the other dugout the opposing manager told BNN writers, "Span bushwhacked my boys today. Obviously we didn't have much success against him, but luckily, we won the ballgame."
D. Span singled in the 1st, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 4th, doubled in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off H. Kellogg in the 8th.
