Tuesday, April 12th, 2016: Ruth Tags Nationals 5 Hits
It was a big day with the bat for George Ruth of the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ballpark as he bashed out hit after hit after hit to defeat Washington 19-10.

To the press after the ballgame he modestly said, "Guys, it's just one game in a long season. I hit it hard and found some holes today -- Bingo! -- 5 hits in 6 tries! But my hits are not the big thing in the game. The victory is the important thing. That's the story."

At the end of the game Ruth had collected 5 hits in 6 at-bats and a small mention in the record book. He was happy. He had a big day with the bat. And the Reds had won.

The beat writers were happy, too. They had their big story -- they could write about his big day with the bat.

G. Ruth hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, struck out in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off R. Wagner in the 8th.

Thus far this year Ruth is hitting .355 with 3 home runs, 8 RBIs and 7 runs scored.
